So yesterday I was all excited about "Robo-Arm". I found a site talking about shoulder replacement surgery and that sounded awesome to me. Check out the photo! It looks like this thing would kick ass and never come out again. Doc thinks otherwise (read below :-)

From Andy (My Doc!):"Oy! You DON'T want to have this procedure! Knees and hips are one thing ... shoulders are different...what you probably need is to go to a good "shoulder" sports medicine type who can figure out a way to keep you healthy...god only knows I try!"
He summed it up last night as a last ditch effort to keep your arm working, not something you would want or request. Damn!
He knows the Ortho that works with the Celtics so hopefully I can go see him and see what the hell he can do for me to keep me active and in socket. I'll keep you all posted.
My arm absolutely feels better today though. I can type again!

Is surgery a must? When I dislocated mine playing hockey they popped it back in and I was in a sling for 2 weeks. Any ligament damage?
Surgery is definitely not the first choice. They usually do it when the dislocations become chronic. A lot of people do it once and then never have it happen again.
Jay, mine still aint right. Sometimes it hurts for no reason.. i have a hard time sleeping cause it'll be all jacked when i wake up. accident and 3-4 trips to bathroom with FHM = Not good for shoulder. :D
As an unfortunate side note to the extent of damage in the shoulder... When they did the surgery the first time they said that there were no ligaments or tendons holding the bone in place anymore so I guess they way it keeps popping tears the ligaments. I can actually hear it tear which really makes me squeel like a girl!
I'd have to say: Getting metal inserted in your arm is completely pointless unless it gives you super powers or an adamantium skelaton. :)
Seriously though, I'd probably second going to a doctor who specializes in sports medicine - I'm sure they deal with that type of injury all the time. Either that, or try going to a therapeutic massage.
Not that I really know too much about this kind of stuff!
Ha! That kicks ass! I mean the robo-arm! We manufacture that stuff down where I'm at now.
We also make replacement shit for your neck, spine, wrists, insert bone replacements here.......
We make a similar one for the hip as well.
Hope ya don't need one of those though bud. The procedures look god awefully painful. I've seen a few!
