Interval Training

I started toning down my cardio this week from long endurance runs to interval training. Instead of 10 minutes on the bag at medium pace I started 1 minute blast runs. They are pretty killer and pretty exhausting but I hope it's as potent for the fat burning furnace. I'll keep you all posted on how effective it is for me.

Where do you hit the bag Jay? Do you have one in your place or the Dojo?

I bought the Weider boxing gym so I have a heavy bag and a speed bag. I am not huge on cardio so I needed something that I found fun and cario-tastic. This was the perfect blend for me! Check it out here

Cheap as hell actually. You just need a stand or some cheap hardware if you have exposed beams in the basement. Dick's has them in millbury. Heavy Bags, Gloves and Wraps (a must) but then again you don't really need a heavy bag.. you could just go out and punch the hell out of a tree for free ;)

"you could just go out and punch the hell out of a tree for free" - lol, touche!

I once saw a 14-y-o string up a dufflebag filled with sand from a tree and beat the crap out of it. Scared the ever-loving piss out of me, and that was last summer. I kept thinking he had puppies in there or something. The kid was nuts...

Oh, you can also get the kind of bag that sits on it's own base. I bought one at Dick's for about $99. You can fill it with water or sand. I would recommend sand though, as mine is filled with water and slides all over the place when you're going at it. Th hanging bags might be more comforatable to bang on since the free-standing ones have a plastic core that you can feel after a while. But they are fun to try to knock over with a good round-house kick :)
